When we went here at lunch after visiting San Marco, there was a line. We were hungry and waited. We ordered the cheese schiacciata, and the onion. We were transported. Best food experience in our Italian trip. We had very little expectation, of course, which helped, but completely amazing what they are able to do with bread, olive oil and cheese.

Recommend by a local as the best deli/bakery. It was crowded when we got there. We ordered a number of things. The bread was dry and the olive oil was liberal. Overall, we felt it's an experience we could have at any other deli shop. One redeeming factor was that the staff were super friendly.

Good place for lunch and optional beer on tap like Poretti 4.

We only walked in for a slice of schiacciata ripiena with ham and stracchino (basically stuffed flat bread) and a slice of potato rosemary pizza. Nothing fancy or special but it was done well and the batch we had was fresh. For what we paid compared to other similar places in Florence, it’s a bargain. Also I tried some frollΓ¬ni (Italian cookies) in the past and they were delicious

Pugi is a chain bakery that most people know as the cheapest and best place to get a hot and salty piece of schiacciata right out of the oven. It can get super crowded here right after school lets out and beware if you make a habit out of it because you’ll pack on the pounds real fast! I know from experience. But, it is a great place for a snack, the pizza is sold by the slice - although you can order a whole one to go, but I wouldn’t recommend it; usually one piece is enough because it’s very heavy and greasy. But delicious!! They also have nice cookies and good semolina tarts. The ladies behind the counter are always courteous and helpful. (Grab a number when you walk in!)

Amazing bakery with amazing hosts :). Blueberry tart was fantastic and the schiciatta is a must try even though it looks plain.
