Ich habe eben einen Entschluss gefasst der mich sehr beruhigt. Ich will nur durch Florenz durchgehen und grade auf Rom. Ich habe keinen Genuss an nichts, bis jenes erste Bedürfnis gestillt ist, gestern in Cento, heute hier, ich eile nur gleichsam, ängstlich vorbei, dass mir die Zeit verstreichen möge, und dann mögt ich, wenn es des Himmels Wille ist zu Allerheiligen in Rom sein um das große Fest am rechten Orte zu sehen und also einige Tage voraus, da bleibt mir nichts übrig als ich muss Florenz liegen lassen und es auf einer frohen Rückreise mit geöffneten Augen sehen. Auch hier in Bologna müsste man sich lange aufhalten.

I have just made a decision that calms me down a lot. I just want to go through Florence and straight to Rome. I do not enjoy anything until that first need is satisfied, yesterday in Cento, today here, I just hurry past, as it were, afraid that time may pass me, and then, if Heaven's will, I like All Saints' Day in To be in Rome to see the big festival in the right place and so a few days ahead, I have no choice but to leave Florence and see it with my eyes open on a happy return trip. Here in Bologna you would have to stay a long time.
