An incredible range of chianti and montepulcianos by the glass, and some amazing whites as well. This guy knows wine and is suspicious of trends. He's eager to convince guests of the qualities of certain local wines and brought us an extra bottle for a tasting. They even have some French wines (if you're tired of Italian ones...), not to mention a selection of local cheeses. You can also buy your bottles of wine and other local products to go. We really enjoyed our visit. The owner speaks French and English.

Massimo is highly knowledgable about local and rare wines, but he is also helpful and kind to all palettes. In addition, he is a great resource for news and reviews of local people and places, and his wife Patricia is a treasure. They observe strict Covid protocols for all of their customers.

A	Alberto Mattei on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We traveled to Volterra as a group of 8 friends for a bachelor party in August 2020. We went for the Degustazione and the experience was simply gorgeous. We were a little bit late due to the dense schedule, but Massimo told us that the tasting room was all for us and not to worry about the half an hour delay. He spent a good 90' with us, teaching us the basics of wine tasting and giving us a structured tasting experience (based mainly on direct comparison between wines) on regional white wines first, and red wines afterwards. His enthusiams and availability to reply all sort of naïve questions we had was an amazing highlight of our time in Volterra. We had the wine tasting in italian, as we are native italian speakers. The day after we were so pleased by the wines we tasted that we gladly bought many of them. I absolutely suggest a stop by Enoteca Scali as now I can't dissociate Volterra from the beautiful moments there. Thank you Massimo!
B	Bogdan Oprea on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went to the first wine shop to get some bottles for my friends and asked the man who was working about their house wines to which he started mocking me that I asked for house wine. The shop has hundreds of bottles so excuse me employee of the month for asking you to do your job and ask for a recommendation. Next time do your job. I recommend going to any of the other shops
