I went to Enoteca Ducale following Lonely Planet's recommendation, looking for some good authentic Modena's vinegar.
So we asked the guy at the shop to sell us good authentic vinegar from Modena.
We took 3 bottles of 5 years old vinegar at 40 euros each. That's a bit expensive, but we thought we had purchased real old vinegar.
Too bad for us, back home, we realised he sold us cheap "condiment" that wasn't even called "vinegar", that wasn't even from Modena. Silly us, we trusted the seller, and didn't check that until back home.
I called the shop, explaining that I was unhappy, and the only answer I got was "you damn tourists are never happy, I couldn't care less"
So, if you want authentic vinegar, avoid that shop !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent service and attention! My family of two adults and two teens stopped in to sample the balsamic vinegar. Despite what the other reviews state, it is local vinegar from Acetaia Leonardi just south of Modena. The man working took plenty of time explaining the various types of vinegars and giving samples. I appreciated that he treated my teens as adults and allowed ample samples for all of us. We bought three bottles for souvenirs and gifts. Unfortunately, all three bottles were confiscated by customes at the London/Gatwick airport due to the shape of the bottle, not the ounces. I contacted this store to share my airport story and Enoteca Dulcale sent us replacements for free. I did not ask for replacement bottles and was suprised at their generosity. This is amazing customer service! BRAVO!
