Got my passport stolen at my hotel on the evening of the 10th - I am writing here on the 11th at 12:00 the following day with a temporary passport so I can now return home tomorrow. That is, I went from no passport at all (and no driver's license) to having the provisional, fully valid, in under 4 hours. If you need an emergency passport, read here: Start by going to the local police station to make a police report. It is a requirement to be able to receive a provisional passport. Tell them you have to write a police report because you have lost your passport and the rest they will help with - it is not more than a few pieces of paper that need to be filled out. There's one on termini, but it's a little hard to find, so ask the cops. Afterwards, you need to find a place where you can take a passport photo - and don't worry, it doesn't take nearly as long as in Denmark. Find a metro or train station! Termini (train station) has some certified photo booths located below ground level. 2 is close to where some of the metros run. Ask them in the stores if they know where they are and then they can point you in that direction if they know. Now you have a police report and passport photos. The last thing you need is a photo ID and your Danish health insurance card. I used my high school student card and it worked fine. Then fill in some paperwork and take a picture for your temporary emergency passport, and then pay 128.00 EURO. For me, it also covered getting a new 10-year passport sent to my municipality.

The Danish and Swedish embassy is inside the same building. The staff of Danish Embassy is very professional and supporting. They allowed me to come inside the embassy 30 minutes prior to my appointment time. I went for the Biometrics and it took no more than 40 minutes for the complete process. The waiting area is quite comfortable with the facilities of water and toilet.
