Si narra infatti che un pastore cercando il suo bue, che nei giorni di calura si era allontanato dalla mandria, lo ritrovò dentro la grotta a sinistra della chiesetta, inginocchiato davanti ad una croce. La Croce Santa che dal 1728 è custodita nella prima Chiesa Madre, oggi SS. crocifisso a Rosolini. Trovo la piazzetta assolutamente inutile. Ci sarebbero state tante potenzialità da sfruttare... purtroppo invece sono sepolte dal cemento. A beautiful place. I would have avoided the pouring of concrete in the space in front of the church. A natural area would have greatly increased the magic of the place. I find the square absolutely useless. La quarta chiesa infine è detta grotta del Bove perché ad essa è legata una leggenda: si narra infatti che un bue non facendo ritorno alla masseria venisse ritrovato dal bovaro dentro una grotta in ginocchio davanti ad una croce lignea che fu ritrovata nel 1553 e che oggi è custodita nella chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso. La struttura appare abbandonata ai vandali che hanno sporcato con scritte le pareti di alcune grotte.
