Today with my wife and friends we visited "La Bottega del Frer", we congratulate the museum guide, friendly, prepared and learned in explaining the history of the beautiful museum, which should open the eyes of young people that nothing is due and not a degree alone is enough to make people knowledgeable and learned, but humility is needed in learning to be able to live in the wonderful world of creation. Thank you.

VERY DIDASCAL AND BORING a few tens of meters from the castle of Masino, in the central street of the village, is this small museum which is part of the network of ecomuseums in the Ivrea area. there are about ten, scattered throughout the area, and are open only in the summer period - this year from 7 July to 21 October -, on Saturday afternoon from 3 to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 to 12 and from 3 to 6. The Ecomuseum of the morainic amphitheater is small - there are 3 rooms on 2 floors - but unfortunately, although the subject may also appear interesting, it is particularly boring as there are only panels to read, not entirely simple between the other, especially those of the room on the ground floor. there are 30 in all. the 10 in the first room speak of the gold deposits, exploited before the arrival of the Romans, in the Bessa area. one of these cites ancient historians who have dealt with the subject, another the methods of exploitation of this metal. a video of a few minutes, which must be seen from the porch as it faces the outside of the building, explains what the morainic amphitheater is, formed by the action of a glacier 900 thousand years ago and quite unique in the its kind. the second room, in which another video still talks about the amphitheater showing the rock carvings and erratic boulders present in the area and making an overview of the main museums of the network, explains the amphitheater and its characteristics in scientific terms. these 13 are quite technical and difficult to understand. I would also say boring. in the center of the room there is a model, which is also not easy to read. the third room is dedicated to the balmetti, cellars that exploited the underground air currents, which are located in the municipality of Borgofranco. over 200 have been counted. in one there was a brewery closed in the 1930s. these latter panels are simpler and more interesting. unfortunately it is not attractive as it does not present any finds other than 3 or 4 little significant stones. it takes about an hour and a half to read everything. admission is free. I don't recommend it.

Beautiful moraine area in the Canavese hills. Walks in nature and close encounters with foxes, hares, badgers, fawns and more. Small lakes delimit this area to be discovered.
