Nei secoli seguenti il castello fu al centro delle mire espansionistiche di Barnabo Visconti , duca di Milano, che però non riuscì a violare la fortificazione. Nel 1433, fu emanato un decreto della Republica di Venezia , che esentava per cinque anni da ogni carico reale, personale et misto quei di Bagnatica et Mezzate in riconoscimento della loro fedeltà et in riconoscenza delle sciagure sofferte". Nei secoli successivi, il castello venne adibito a residenza della famiglia Camozzi-Vertova, attuali proprietari. La visita guidata è stata molto interessante e la guida era competente e preparata. Do 4 stelle solo perché il costo della visita, per quello che offre, è eccessivo (17 euro a persona). Inoltre non si possono fare foto. I had the opportunity to visit it on the occasion of one of the rare days it is open to the public. Venne eretto nel Secolo X dall'imperatore Ottone per la difesa delle Valcavallina e Vallecamonica. All'esterno del castello c'è un grande giardino con alberi secolari mentre all'interno c'è un magnifico giardino all'italiana è un cortiletto a forma rettangolare. Le pareti interne sono tutte ricoperte da freschi molto ben conservati. The castle dominates the town of Costa di Mezzate from Colle Alto and is certainly the prominent element of the place. It was built in the 10th century by the emperor Otto for the defense of the Valcavallina and Vallecamonica. Outside the castle there is a large garden with old trees while inside there is a magnificent Italian garden is a rectangular shaped courtyard. Venne eretto nei secoli XIII - XVI sulle pendici Est del Monte Tomenone, dove inizia la Val Cavallina. Il Castello faceva parte di un complesso sistema difensivo che comprendeva i vicini Castelli di Grumello del Monte, di Carrobbio e di Cenate Sotto, nonché della Torre del Colle di San Giovanni Battista, sulla cima della collina accanto al Castello stesso, il Baluardo (Castello) di Brusaporto ed il Castello di Comonte, di cui rimangono pochi resti inglobati in altri edifici. Il Castello Camozzi Vertova è ora una residenza privata, perciò la sua visita è possibile solo in specifiche occasioni, che tuttavia si dovrebbe cercare di non perdere, perché vi sono contenuti dipinti ed arredi di pregio sicuro. Si consiglia, comunque, di effettuare una passeggiata prima attorno al paese di Costa di Mezzate, per ammirare da lontano il “gioiello” ergersi sopra i tetti del borgo antico, circondato da ampi campi coltivati, poi spingendosi fin dentro il vetusto Borgo, per vedere e gustare da vicino le bellezze delle antiche stradine. S	Sofian Ahmad on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed at Airbnb in this little town which was 15 mins away from the airport. If you are flying early in the morning I would definitely recommend staying here and visit the castle.
