β β β β β Il Convento di San Francesco Γ¨ da piΓΉ di 500 anni il punto di riferimento non solo religioso del comune di Tramonti. La chiesa con l'annesso convento venne costruita nel 1474 grazie ad una donazione. Il 4 ottobre, quando si celebra San Francesco, in tutto il comune Γ¨ festa patronale. La stradina della frazione Polvica si anima di bancarelle in occasione di questo particolare giorno che vede arrivare gente da tutte le altre frazioni in segno di devozione del santo poverello. La chiesa Γ¨ un piccolo gioiellino dove sono racchiuse preziose statue, affreschi, un coro in legno del '700, due sarcofagi. Purtroppo negli anni diminuendo il numero di frati, il convento ha chiuso le sue porte e ha 'aperto' un servizio 'accoglienza' (soprattutto durante la stagione turistica): qui Γ¨ possibile soggiornare e vivere la quiete e la spiritualitΓ di questo antico luogo.
The Convent of San Francesco has been the not only religious reference point for the municipality of Tramonti for more than 500 years. The church with the adjoining convent was built in 1474 thanks to a donation. On October 4, when St. Francis is celebrated, the whole town is a patron saint's feast. The small street of the Polvica hamlet comes alive with stalls on the occasion of this particular day when people from all the other villages arrive as a sign of devotion to the holy poor man. The church is a small jewel where precious statues, frescoes, a wooden choir from the 1700s, two sarcophagi are enclosed. Unfortunately over the years the number of friars has decreased, the convent has closed its doors and has 'opened' a 'welcome' service (especially during the tourist season): here it is possible to stay and experience the quiet and spirituality of this ancient place.
