Ogni anno, fedeli e visitatori giungono a migliaia per vedere l’eremo, un luogo suggestivo che colpisce per la sensazione di pace che riesce a infondere nel viandante che si trovi a passare su questa strada. Siamo sul sentiero di Francesco, la via da lui percorsa durante i suoi spostamenti tra il Santuario della Verna e Assisi, luogo che porta con se le storie e gli aneddoti della vita del santo. Francesco dormì spesso qui nell'eremo, e percorrendo un sentiero scosceso verso il fondo valle si arriva ad un sito denominato "Sasso Spiccco" , dove una formazione geologica impressionante ed una cascata creano un'atmosfera particolare: si dice che il santo spesso venisse qui per lunghi momenti di raccoglimento.
