A	Attilio Piegari on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il paese, oggi abitato da poco più di 400 persone, fra la Sella di Conza e il gruppo montuoso Eremita Marzano, aveva nome Santa Menna, dal nome dell'eremita che nel VI secolo avrebbe fondato un cenobio ove vi si stabilirono altri monaci che edificarono un monastero, attorno al quale sorse l'abitato. Secondo lo studioso Francesco Di Geronimo, fu Narsete, generale bizantino, che in occasione dell'assedio di Conza (dove si erano asserragliati gli ultimi settemila goti ancora presenti nella penisola italica) tra il 554 e il 555 edificò una chiesa dedicata a San Menna, martire egiziano. È questo santo (e non l'omonimo eremita beneventano) che ha dato il nome al paese dell'alto Sele. Lo stemma del paese di Santomenna reca, infatti, l'immagine del santo guerriero, con la spada e la palma. The town, now inhabited by just over 400 people, between the Sella di Conza and the Eremita Marzano mountain range, was named Santa Menna, from the name of the hermit who in the 6th century would have founded a monastery where other monks settled there and built a monastery, around which the town was built.
