Grandissima e piena di monumenti e meridiane solari, la conformità del paese è unica a forma esagonale, una nota di demerito va spesa per quanto riguarda il Parco archeologico di Occhiola', trovato chiuso!! E a quanto sentito dire ormai chiuso da parecchio tempo, spero vivamente di trovare aperto la prossima volta

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A seguito del terremoto del gennaio 1693 che colpì la val di Noto, il principe Carlo Maria Carafa Branciforti fondava su un suo feudo a circa 2 km dalla collinetta di Occhiolà "Grammichele". Il principe stesso, assieme a frà Michele da Ferla, progettò la Piazza, ora intitolata a suo nome, a pianta esagonale unico esempio italiano di architettura razionale.
La splendida piazza, centro e fulcro della città, è arricchita da una meridiana monumentale che, anche da sola, merita una visita a questa accogliente e bella città.
Following the earthquake of January 1693 that struck the Val di Noto, Prince Carlo Maria Carafa Branciforti founded "Grammichele" on a fief of his own about 2 km from the Occhiolà hill. The prince himself, together with Brother Michele da Ferla, designed the square, now named after him, with a hexagonal plan, the only Italian example of rational architecture.
The splendid square, center and fulcrum of the city, is enriched by a monumental sundial which, even alone, is worth a visit to this welcoming and beautiful city.
