★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il piccolo comune di Gaiole in Chianti si trova in una vallata sulla rotta tra il Chianti ed il Valdarno, una posizione privilegiata che ha fatto sì che già in epoca medioevale ospitasse il mercato dove si rifornivano i castelli e le località vicine.
Ha dato i natali a mia nonna Angiolina e per questo sono particolarmente affezionato a questo luogo.
Quando nel 1773 il granduca Leopoldo la visitò il mercato di Gaiole era ancora un avvenimento degno di nota.
Dal 1997 Gaiole ospita L'Eroica una gara ciclistica in biciclette d'epoca.
 The small town of Gaiole in Chianti is located in a valley on the route between Chianti and Valdarno, a privileged position that has meant that already in medieval times it housed the market where the castles and nearby towns were supplied with supplies.
It was the birthplace of my grandmother Angiolina and for this reason I am particularly fond of this place.
When the Grand Duke Leopoldo visited it in 1773, the Gaiole market was still a noteworthy event.
Since 1997 Gaiole hosts L'Eroica, a cycling race in vintage bicycles.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sabato 1 Maggio 2021 sono stata per la prima volta in gita a Gaiole in Chianti. Sono stata nel centro, a mangiare a pranzo al Ristorante Osteria al Ponte, gita nella bella città di Gaiole in Chianti, Castello di Brolio e Castello di Meleto. Sono rimasta incantata da questi luoghi così meravigliosi. Una bella Magia e Amore anche per Gaiole in Chianti, il paese della famosa corsa delle bici Eroica.
Sono stata benissimo e ho trascorso un perfetto Sabato di Festa!!

Saturday 1st May 2021 I was for the first time on a trip to Gaiole in Chianti. I was in the center, eating lunch at the Osteria al Ponte restaurant, a trip to the beautiful town of Gaiole in Chianti, Castello di Brolio and Castello di Meleto. I was enchanted by these wonderful places. A beautiful Magic and Love also for Gaiole in Chianti, the town of the famous Eroica bike race.
I had a great time and I spent a perfect Saturday of the Feast !!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perhaps a bit out of the way of the other chiantinas, it is well worth a stop! The tourist office is well stocked with maps and leaflets. The Meleto castle is 10 minutes away by car. Make sure to try out the local Antica Macelleria.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the "must see towns" on the Chiantigiana. In a late afternoon between lunchtime and dinnertime in mid-July 2021 Gaiole in Chianti seemed sleepy and lacking the charm the Internet is raving about.
