Como Camerlata

New station without parking, those arriving from outside Como must cross the level crossing which is always closed for an infinite amount of time. What little parking there is is full of holes, just an excellent Italian job. If you want to start the day with a pissed off, this is the perfect place. Always be kind to your neighbor, it could be a commuter who takes the train to Como Camerlata, usually has a bad moon and no one knows how he might react.

Today we arrived from Locarno and got off at a new modern station :)) I can't even believe it! The final works near the station are not yet finished, but the tracks and all the services are already functioning. The train travels only 1 hour and 20 minutes to Locarno We hope that everything goes well near the station :))

Signs not very clear, to reach the Chiasso / Milano Greco Pirelli line you have to continue through an underpass for about 80 meters (currently platforms 4 and 5), a practice that is not too intuitive for those who have recently used the station. At the moment on the line described above the elevators do not work and it is inaccessible for the disabled as the tracks can be reached using stairs. As for the Como Lago / Milano Cadorna line, the situation is better as it is more tested and has the presence of elevators with an adjoining waiting room. Finally, there is an extremely under-sized free car park since it is completely occupied from 6.30 am. The station is planned to have a second entrance and paid parking near platforms 4 and 5.

The "Como Camerlata Single Station" is the addition of overpasses and covered platforms to the two FS (RFI) tracks that pass behind those of the Northern Railways, that's all. The trains are all of Trenord, the track and platform managers change. Tracks 1, 2 and 3 are on the North, Como Lago - Milan Cadorna section, 4 and 5 of FS, Como San Giovanni - Milan Porta Garibaldi and Milan Centrale sections. The Nord station is still as renewed years ago, at the entrance it has the only ticket machine, valid on both networks, and the only two validating machines in the whole complex. The chest and the small external bathroom are in disuse. On the square of the tracks, on the left at 40 meters there is the underpass with lifts, at the end of which begins an open path 80 meters long which ends at the flyover with lifts on the FS tracks. Insufficient signage and waste everywhere. When it rains the driveway floods and becomes an obstacle course in the water. The rear parking with 270 spaces is still a construction site, it is not known when it will be ready, as well as its ancillary roads. It is the figure who continues to make one of Como's business cards, people have to go to study and work and cannot find services. On the FS docks there are only two small benches per side, baskets, displays and various paper boards side by side with North and FS timetables (very understandable), but no ticket machines and toilets. LED displays are instead present almost everywhere, both FN and FS, but the new ones have never turned them on.

Nice news .. They opened a stop on the Como / Milan line of the FS and connected it to the corresponding North stop, creating an easy interchange between the two lines and very convenient and useful for those coming from the north and for those who use the North and want to go to Como Saint John. Maybe more should be advertised, but congratulations to RFI for the idea!

Como Camerlata Station has risen! Renovated, cleaned and served by an automatic ticket office, an indoor waiting room and information panels. All in accordance with law for people with disabilities. Today even more served, with the pedestrian connection and the new stop on the State Railways line that allows you to reach Switzerland and Milan Centrale / Garibaldi without having to travel kilometers on foot. A few final touches and it will be 100% complete. An excellent service for our city and the Como province.

Very old railway station of Ferrovie Nord .... Everything ok! Suitable for visiting Como as it has a huge free car park. The bar is a stone's throw away and is suitable for a good quick breakfast and an unpretentious snack. The station is unmanned and this makes it less interesting ....
