★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Abbarbicato a 590 metri d'altezza, il paese gode di una magnifica distesa di campi coltivati a grano, vallate e colline, sul versante orientale degli Erei. Alcune di queste colline sono sature di storia e raccontano in modo perfetto, le origini dei cittadini diValguarnera Caropepe.

Dai numerosi resti ritrovati nel paese e nei dintorni è certo che questa zona fosse già abitata in epoca arcaica. Un monolito databile VIII secolo a. C. fa dedurre che in questi posti ci fosse vita sin dal periodo mesolitico e che esistessero numerosi villaggi preistorici e sepolture funerarie come testimoniano altri reperti.
Nella parte ovest del paese è stato rinvenuto un ingrottamento adibito a culto chiamato “Grutt r’Ballassar” (Grotte di Baldassarre) di origine rupestre. Ma fu sotto i greci che Valguarnera Caropepe assunse un ruolo importante sia sul piano militare che logistico. Purtroppo molti dei resti e delle antiche costruzioni sono andate perse a causa dell’incuria e della scelleratezza dell’uomo.
Perched at 590 meters above sea level, the town enjoys a magnificent expanse of fields planted with wheat, valleys and hills, on the eastern side of the Erei. Some of these hills are saturated with history and perfectly tell the origins of the citizens of Valguarnera Caropepe.
Known as Carrapipi. And its inhabitants are carrapipani / Valguarneresi.
From the numerous remains found in the town and its surroundings, it is certain that this area was already inhabited in the archaic era. A monolith dating from the 8th century BC. C. suggests that in these places there was life since the Mesolithic period and that there were numerous prehistoric villages and funerary burials as evidenced by other finds.
In the western part of the village, an ingrottation used for worship called "Grutt r'Ballassar" (Cave of Baldassarre) of rock origin was found. But it was under the Greeks that Valguarnera Caropepe assumed an important role both in military and logistical terms. Unfortunately many of the remains and ancient buildings have been lost due to the neglect and wickedness of man.
