★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questa è la chiesa principale di Campodolcino. Ha storia abbastanza antica, risale infatti al 1528. Dedicata a San Giovanni Battista, ma è luogo di culto particolarmente legato al santo Luigi Guanella, che qui ricevette battesimo e cresima, e qui probabilmente fu chiamato alla sua importante vocazione.
La chiesa in se non è particolarmente bella, ma è il locale punto di aggregazione della comunità religiosa del paese. E' ben visibile dalla strada (SS36) in quanto ce la si trova proprio davanti in prossimità del ponte sulla Rabbiosa e all'incrocio con la strada che sale a Fraciscio.
Bello e imponente invece è il presepe che ogni anno vi viene allestito.
Vale sempre la pena una visita.
This is the main church of Campodolcino. Its history is quite ancient, in fact it dates back to 1528. Dedicated to St. John the Baptist, but it is a place of worship particularly linked to St. Luigi Guanella, who received baptism and confirmation here, and was probably called here to his important vocation.
The church itself is not particularly beautiful, but it is the local meeting point for the country's religious community. It is clearly visible from the road (SS36) as it is located right in front of it near the bridge over the Rabbiosa and at the intersection with the road that goes up to Fraciscio.
On the other hand, the nativity scene that is set up there every year is beautiful and impressive.
It is always worth a visit.
