La chiesa è stata restaurata alla fine degli anni '60, ad opera degli abitanti di Gottro.
La località, con le leggi Napoleoniche, che vietava la sepoltura dei morti all'interno dei luoghi di culto, si iniziò a destinarla come luogo di tumulazione dei propri congiunti dei residenti della frazione.
All'entrata e' collocata una cappella, ove sono stati raccolti i resti dei corpi sepolti nei secoli trascorsi
