The parish of Calderà is dedicated to San Rocco recognized by the faithful, together with Saint Rosalia, the powerful intercessor against the plague that raged in the eighteenth century in the region. From 5 September 2015 the pastoral care of the territory has been entrusted by the Archbishop of Messina - Lipari - Saint Lucia del Mela, to the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate who also animate the nearby house of spiritual exercises for clerics, religious and laity, called "Santa Maria del Cenacolo ”. On the occasion of the patronal festival of San Rocco, in addition to the procession with the simulacrum of the saint in the streets of the parish, every August 17th the sea procession along the coast from Spinesante to Caldà is suggestive to which the faithful assist from the beach burning bonfires and lighting illuminations, as well as illuminating the whole evening with polychrome fireworks. The apostolate of proximity of the Franciscans with the proclamation of the Word and the good example, the dynamism of the parish oratory with numerous young people, catechetical formation and administration of the sacraments make this community a family in communion. Within the parish territory there is also a home for the elderly and a center for the disabled, the subject of special attention by the pastoral agents present there. With great involvement of the citizens and neighboring centers, since last Christmas the Parish has organized the Living Nativity, while every Palm Sunday takes place in Piazza delle Ancore, organized by the Parish and its Oratory, the theatrical representation of "The History of Three Days ”: Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. One of the positive aspects is that the Franciscan Friars manage to gather almost all the new generations in activities that are in harmony with their growth.
