★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa di S. Rocco si trova oltrepassata la piazza Giuseppe Pianese, a pochi passi dalla Croce del Quattrocento di Fuori Porta, sotto un grande arco. Eretta con obolo popolare nel 1656 per lo scampato pericolo della pestilenza che in quell'anno fece tante vittime in tutta Europa. Infatti, San Rocco, nato a Montpellier nel secolo XIV, è passato alla storia per aver operato guarigioni miracolose durante le pestilenze che, nell'antichità, seminavano la morte in ogni parte del mondo. Il suo culto si diffuse in maniera straordinaria in alcuni paesi europei dalla metà del secolo XV e poi in Italia, soprattutto nel veneto. The Church of S. Rocco is located beyond the Piazza Giuseppe Pianese, a few steps from the Quattrocento Croce di Fuori Porta, under a large arch. Erected as a popular offering in 1656 for the narrow escape from the plague which in that year claimed so many victims throughout Europe. In fact, San Rocco, born in Montpellier in the 14th century, has gone down in history for having performed miraculous healings during the plagues which, in ancient times, sowed death in every part of the world. His cult spread in an extraordinary way in some European countries from the middle of the fifteenth century and then in Italy, especially in the Veneto.
