Un documento di vendita del XIII secolo, riferito a case del circondario, conferma la presenza della chiesa nel periodo. DescrizioneÈ una piccola chiesa di origini medioevali, a navata unica con asse orientato ad est, abside terminale su cui si nota una monofora a sesto acuto, mentre sull'esterno del prospetto destro c'è un arco murato in conci di pietra. La facciata è semplice, con terminazione a capanna, unico portale con modanatura a timpano ed oculo centrale. La chiesa subì terremoti e successive modifiche, che la portarono alle forme attuali, con modanature architettoniche neoclassiche. L'esterno si presenta rialzato rispetto al piano stradale così come documentato dal piano di riassetto urbano di Michele Manfredi della seconda metà dell'Ottocento. Da tale piano risulta l'abbassamento del piano stradale e la conseguente necessità di dotare la chiesa di scalinata.
