Assunta, della quale si è voluto conservare l'ancora efficientissimo Campanile, a causa del notevole aumento di popolazione della antica e prestigiosa Parrocchia di Bolzano Vicentino, l'allora Arciprete Monsignor Albano Dovigo con il pieno accordo dei suoi Parrocchiani decise la demolizione dell'ormai fin troppo insufficiente Tempio preesistente, e la sua sostituzione, "in loco", con la attuale nuova, bellissima e ben più grande Chiesa Arcipretale, di stile neo-romanico. Titolare è sempre la Madre di Dio, Assunta in Cielo in Anima e Corpo nella Gloria del Figlio Suo Gesù Cristo. La ampia Arcipretale di Bolzano Vicentino è celebre per la decorazione pittorica ad affresco che abbellisce magnificamente, nel suo interno di tipo basilicale a tre ampie navate, lo spazio del Presbiterio e dell'Abside semicircolare: capolavoro del grande pittore Ubaldo Oppi, che ha lasciato il suo Sommo Capolavoro nell'affrescatura della Grandiosa Rinnovata Cappella di San Francesco della Basilica Pontificia di Sant'Antonio, nella vicinissima Padova. Una delle più belle Chiese erette nel Veneto nella prima metà del secolo appena trascorso, innanzi l'inizio "sperimentale" di nuove architetture chiesastiche che hanno portato, già da prima del Concilio Vaticano II e della Riforma Liturgica post-conciliare, voluta da Papa Paolo VI, a innalzare le più stravaganti bizzarrie che di Casa di Dio nulla hanno. Questo è la Chiesa Arcipretale di Bolzano Vicentino. Per chi abita o è in zona, una visita è d'obbligo. Merita davvero di essere vista.
Where was the ancient Archpriest-Pieve di Maria SS. Assunta, whose still very efficient bell tower was kept, due to the significant increase in population of the ancient and prestigious parish of Bolzano Vicentino, the then Archpriest Monsignor Albano Dovigo with the full agreement of his parishioners decided to demolish the now too insufficient Pre-existing temple, and its replacement, "on site", with the current new, beautiful and much larger Archpriest Church, in neo-Romanesque style. Titular is always the Mother of God, Taken into Heaven in Soul and Body in the Glory of Her Son Jesus Christ. The large Archpriest of Bolzano Vicentino is famous for its frescoed pictorial decoration which magnificently embellishes, in its basilica-like interior with three large naves, the space of the Presbytery and the semicircular apse: a masterpiece by the great painter Ubaldo Oppi, who left the his Supreme Masterpiece in the fresco of the Grandiosa Renewed Chapel of San Francesco in the Pontifical Basilica of Sant'Antonio, in nearby Padua. One of the most beautiful churches erected in the Veneto in the first half of the century just ended, before the "experimental" beginning of new church architecture that led, even before the Second Vatican Council and the post-conciliar Liturgical Reform, wanted by Pope Paul VI, to raise the most extravagant oddities that have nothing of the House of God. This is the Archpriest Church of Bolzano Vicentino. For those who live or are in the area, a visit is a must. Really deserves to be seen.
