★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In origine era una chiesetta dove si adorava l'immagine della Madonna Della Provvidenza, ma chi la costrui e quando è avvolto nel mistero. Probabilmente fra la fine del '600 e l'inizio del '700. Furono i terremoti avvenuti nei due secoli successivi a cambiare la struttura esistente in particolare quello del 1865 che portarono ad un'ampliamento e alla configurazione in 3 navate. A causa del terremoto del 1881 a ridosso della parete volta a mezzogiorno fu eseguito un consolidamento con tre pilastri in conci lavici squadrati legati fra loro. Nella seconda metà del novecento, durante gli anni '60, la facciata cambiò aspetto inglobando il Campanile, rimpicciolendo le tre porte, e ridefinendo il tutto in stile classico rinascimentale.
Originally it was a small church where the image of Our Lady of Providence was adored, but who built it and when it is shrouded in mystery. Probably between the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. It was the earthquakes that occurred in the following two centuries that changed the existing structure, in particular that of 1865, which led to an expansion and configuration in 3 naves. Due to the earthquake of 1881, a consolidation was carried out with three pillars in square lava ashlars linked to each other close to the wall facing south. In the second half of the twentieth century, during the 1960s, the facade changed its appearance by incorporating the bell tower, reducing the three doors, and redefining everything in a classic Renaissance style.

The church of my Macchia is wonderful, for those who have never been in this small town I recommend visiting it, and I invite everyone to see the great feast of San Vito Martire which is held on the last Saturday and the last Sunday of August, and the feast of Our Lady of Providence on the last Sunday of October
