Nel corso degli anni vengono fatte ragguardevoli modifiche nella struttura originale, fino ad una quasi totale ricostruzione a metà ‘600.
 The Church of San Giovanni Battista has origins in the early Middle Ages, after the Cathedral of San Lorenzo it is the oldest church in Alba.
Over the years, considerable changes have been made to the original structure, up to an almost total reconstruction in the mid-1600s.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È la chiesa più antica di Alba dopo la Cattedrale di San Lorenzo e l’ormai scomparsa Santa Maria del Ponte. Nel settore destro del presbiterio è presente un notevole sedile intagliato in legno di noce, mentre nelle piccole cappelle laterali è presente una serie di bei dipinti, fra cui la Madonna in adorazione del Bambino, attribuito al famoso artista rinascimentale Macrino d’Alba.
It is the oldest church in Alba after the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the now disappeared Santa Maria del Ponte. In the right sector of the presbytery there is a remarkable seat carved in walnut, while in the small side chapels there is a series of beautiful paintings, including the Madonna in adoration of the Child, attributed to the famous Renaissance artist Macrino d’Alba.

The church is located in the center of Alba. It no longer preserves the medieval aspect because it has been remodeled over the centuries, until the current appearance. But it is inside that there are important canvases like the "Madonna in Adoration of the Child" (1508) of the Macrino painter and "La Madonna del Latte" (1377) by Barnaba from Modena

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The church is STUNNING! Pinks, mauves, and golds set the tone in this amazing building whose origins date back to 1228!!! There are many valuable works of art inside it. And the ceiling is just gorgeous. It made me really sad to see the others reviews because that NOT how I felt being there. I felt deeply moved by the atmosphere and details. If u love history, art, and architecture, it’s a MUST see.
