Church not gigantic, but really beautiful. I was very impressed by the brightness and the high concentration of paintings and decorations. I'm definitely not an art critic, but I was pleasantly surprised. To visit!! ?

It is a church! if you go there for a funeral you don't look much ...

It is one of the oldest and most important churches in Rimini, inside it preserves valuable works of art. Erected in the XII century, it belonged to the Discalced Carmelites until 1797 (when the order was suppressed), it was rebuilt on a project by Gaetano Cupioli, in 1767-72. The interior, with a single nave, is decorated with eighteenth-century stuccos by Antonio Trentanove. On the main altar and in the side chapels there are paintings of considerable artistic value: in the first chapel on the right "The Martyrdom of San Gaudenzio" attributable to Soleri from Rimini; in the second chapel on the right "The Crucifix and the Adoration of the Magi" by Visacci and in the first chapel on the left you can admire one of Cagnacci's early masterpieces "I Santi Carmelitani", created around 1630. The artist, considered one of the major protagonists of seventeenth-century painting, here he renders the mystical ecstasy of Saint Teresa of Avila with particular intensity. Among the other paintings "La Predica del Battista", a work by Andrea Boscoli dated to 1599, located on the second altar on the left; "LaTrinity and the patron saints of Rimini", by friar Cosimo Piazza, dated 1611, in which Saints Giuliano and Gaudenzio hold one of the oldest pictorial views of the city. In the apse there is a wooden crucifix of controversial dating: some consider it a fifteenth-century work, while some would like to trace it back to the sculptural crucifixes of the Giotto school. It was restored in 1960 by Renato Paolucci. This crucifix is ​​inserted in the beautiful stucco altarpiece with angels, the work of Antonio Trentanove. The central chapel on the side to the right of those who enter, houses the sixteenth-century simulacrum of the "Vergine del Carmine"; the statue belongs to the second half of the 16th century and has enjoyed great veneration since 1573, when it was brought into the church. The crowns were blessed by His Holiness Paul VI in the Vatican Basilica of St. Peter. Every year in July the liturgical feast of the Beata Vergine del Carmine is celebrated, with appointments of prayer and cultural meetings, which ends with the solemn procession of the statue of the Blessed Virgin along the streets of Borgo San Giovanni.
