A	Angela Santoro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ogni anno la parrocchia allestisce uno spettacolare paesaggio natalizio....aggiungendo ai personaggi del presepe anche animali veri come l'asinello....l'anno scorso ce ne erano molti di più....spero che continuino ogni anno ad emozionarci rendendo il natale un MAGICO NATALE.... Every year the parish prepares a spectacular Christmas landscape .... adding real animals such as the donkey to the nativity scene characters .... last year there were many more .... I hope they continue to excite us every year making Christmas a MAGICAL CHRISTMAS ....
D	Davide Pizzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di San Francesco si chiamava originariamente chiesa di San Fortunato: fu consacrata nel 1289 e retta dai monaci benedettini già nel XII secolo, quando con la chiesa di San Pietro e con altri edifici di culto poi scomparsi, fu donata al Vescovo di Grosseto da Clemente III nel 1188. Abbandonata dai Benedettini nel 1220, la chiesa passò ai francescani e fu consacrata come chiesa di San Francesco nel 1621 dal vescovo Francesco Piccolomini. Fino alle soppressioni napoleoniche fu officiata dai Frati Minori Conventuali, poi nel periodo 1832-33 fu utilizzata come infermeria per i lavoratori della bonifica maremmana e dal 1859 al 1865 fu sede della Cattedra episcopale durante i restauri del Duomo. Il 9 giugno 1903 il vescovo Caldaioli riaprì la chiesa al culto dopo i lavori di restauro iniziati a fine ‘800 e nel 1924 il vescovo Matteoni la affidò ai Frati Minori della Provincia toscana delle Sante Stimmate, tutt’ora presenti. L’11 febbraio 1949 fu eretta a parrocchia. L’edificio è ad un’unica navata in stile gotico-francescano, con tetto a capanna. All’interno si conservano affreschi databili fra il ‘300 e il ‘600. La cappella di destra è dedicata a Sant’Antonio ed è stata al centro di un recente intervento di restauro e consolidamento. Nelle pareti affreschi dei Nasini. Sopra l’altare maggiore campeggia il bellissimo Crocifisso attribuito a Duccio di Boninsegna. Bello il presepe nel periodo natalizio. The church of San Francesco was originally called the church of San Fortunato: it was consecrated in 1289 and ruled by the Benedictine monks as early as the 12th century, when it was donated to the Bishop of Grosseto by Clement III in 1188. Abandoned by the Benedictines in 1220, the church passed to the Franciscans and was consecrated as the church of San Francesco in 1621 by the bishop Francesco Piccolomini. Until the Napoleonic suppressions it was officiated by the Friars Minor Conventual, then in the period 1832-33 it was used as an infirmary for the Maremma land reclamation workers and from 1859 to 1865 it was the seat of the Episcopal Chair during the restoration of the Cathedral. On 9 June 1903, Bishop Caldaioli reopened the church for worship after the restoration work begun at the end of the 19th century and in 1924 Bishop Matteoni entrusted it to the Friars Minor of the Tuscan Province of Sante Stimmate, still present today. On 11 February 1949 it was erected as a parish. The building has a single nave in the Gothic-Franciscan style, with a gable roof. Inside there are frescoes dating back to between the 1300s and 1600s. The chapel on the right is dedicated to Saint Anthony and was the focus of a recent restoration and consolidation. On the walls there are frescoes by the Nasini. Above the main altar stands the beautiful Crucifix attributed to Duccio di Boninsegna. The nativity scene is beautiful during the Christmas period.

Molto belle anche le vetrate. Negli anni '60 qui si unirono in matrimonio Celentano e la Mori. In perfect "Franciscan" style, simple and austere facade. Equally simple interiors with remains of frescoes on the walls and a beautiful crucifix. The windows are also very beautiful. In the 1960s, Celentano and Mori joined in marriage here.

L'interno è ad un’unica navata in stile gotico-francescano, con tetto a capanna. All’interno si conservano affreschi databili fra il ‘300 e il ‘600. La cappella di destra è dedicata a Sant’Antonio ed è stata al centro di un recente intervento di restauro e consolidamento. Sicuramente merita una visita se ci si trova a Grosseto, semplice ma bella. Originally dedicated to San Fortunato, during the thirteenth century, it was sold together with the adjacent cloister by the Benedictines to the Franciscans. The interior has a single nave in the Gothic-Franciscan style, with a gable roof. Inside there are frescoes dating back to between the 1300s and 1600s. The chapel on the right is dedicated to Saint Anthony and was the focus of a recent restoration and consolidation. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Grosseto, simple but beautiful.
