Church of 1400, belongs to the Vicariate of Grigne since 1984 (Diocese of Como)

The parish of Sant'Eufemia a Olcio, is located on the lakefront and its origins date back to around 1400. The current appearance is due to the reconstruction of the nineteenth century with a slightly onion-shaped bell tower. We do not know the inside as we have always found it closed every time we went.

The "parish" of Olcio is mentioned in a document dated 1453, with a dedication to Saints Giulia and Eufemia (Index alphabeticus). The church of Sant'Eufemia was erected in the parish by the bishop Antonio Trivulzio with an act dated 4 November 1491 drawn up by the notary Paolo de Orchi of Como (Zucchi 1959). The parish of Olcio is still mentioned in the documents of the pastoral visit made by bishop Ninguarda to the parish church of Mandello at the end of the 16th century (Visit Ninguarda 1589-1593). In the state of all the parish churches of the city and diocese of Como sent by the bishop Mugiasca to the government of Milan in 1773, the parish priest's income resulted from funds for 448.16 lire and from stole fees for 30 lire (Note parishes of the diocese of Como, 1773). In 1781, according to the specific note of the predial exemptions in favor of the parishes of the state of Milan, the parish of Sant'Eufemia possessed funds for 383.15 perches; the number of souls, counted between Easter of 1779 and that of 1780, was 324 (Note parishes of the State of Milan, 1781). In 1788 the parish was under the patronage of the community. The number of parishioners was 327. Within the confines of the parish of Sant'Eufemia there were the oratories of San Giuliano, San Rocco, Santa Maria sopra Olcio (Arrangement of parishes in the diocese of Como, 1788). In 1898, the year of the pastoral visit of Bishop Teodoro Valfré di Bonzo to the vicariate of Mandello, the net income from the parish benefit amounted to 636.86 lire. Within the boundaries of the parish of Sant'Eufemia virgin and martyr existed the church of Santa Maria; the oratories of San Giuliano and San Rocco. The confraternities of the Blessed Sacrament, of the Virgin of Sorrows were established in the parish; the companies of the Third Order of San Francesco, San Luigi, the Daughters of Mary; the association of the Madonna del Carmine. The number of parishioners was 460 (Visit Valfré di Bonzo, Pieve di Mandello).
