Oltre alle già citate chiese con opere di grande valore artistico e sentimentale, vorrei ricordare la famosissima sagra del riso che si svolge ogni anno per festeggiare il patrono del paese: San Bartolomeo (24 agosto). Per 10 giorni ogni sera si possono gustare i risotti proposti dai ristoratori della zona. Centinaia di volontari di tutte le età rendono efficiente il servizio e sono il cuore pulsante della festa. Dalle bolle del Papa è che la chiesa di Merlengo, dedicata a San Bartolomeo, localizzata nel centro del paese e quella di San Vito, piccola cappella situata sulla Postumia e riconosciuta come Oratorio di San Vito sulla Postumia, siano state sempre accumunati. Ci occupiamo della chiesa di Merlengo menzionando che ha una ricca storia che fu già citata per Angelo Marchesan, storico, letterato, canonico che la vede accennata nel anno 1021 e dipendente dell’Abazia di San Zeno di Verona. Diverse fatti storici la vedono protagonista nei secoli. Per quanto concerne la chiesa attuale, essa fu iniziata nel 1707 durante la cura di don Francesco Pollicini (1706-1736) «ma fu compiuta a riprese e con diverso disegno; il coro d’ordine composito, vi fu aggiunto dopo il 1800» Detto coro fu poi riedificato negli anni 1842-1844 sotto il parroco don Bartolomeo Dal Pozzo, curato dal 1825-1844. Il campanile fu eretto durante il periodo di don Pollicini e perfezionato nel 1734. La consacrazione della chiesa non è ancora stata compiuta; essa è così intitolata: «Ecclesia parochialis s. Bartholomei ap. de Merulenico». Nel 1714, perciò durante la cura del predetto parroco don Pollicini, fu restaurata la canonica, intervento resosi indilazionabile.
