DescrizioneAl centro di Cugnoli, su corso Vittorio Emanuele I, sorge l'antica chiesa di Santo Stefano Primo Martire. La sua edificazione risale al XIII secolo, anche se la configurazione attuale è il risultato di un totale rifacimento avvenuto nel corso del 1400 e poi successivamente nel 1600. Presenta una facciata a terminazione orizzontale in pietra di carattere tardomanierista, su cui si aprono un portale ed una finestra appartenenti a mani diverse. L'interno è a navata unica divisa in cinque campate coperte a botte lunettate da pilastri quadrangolari addossati alle pareti e decorata da stucchi settecenteschi. Di grande pregio è l'ambone romanico di Nicodemo, posto sul lato sinistro dell'aula, risalente al 1166 e qui trasportato nel 1582 dalla distrutta chiesa di San Pietro.
