L'edificio attuale è il risultato di ampliamenti e ristrutturazioni risalenti al Settecento e rappresenta un bell'esempio di stile tardo-barocco della città. Esternamente sono da notare, oltre alla facciata, la caratteristica scala di accesso laterale (risalente al 1857 per ovviare al sopravvenuto dislivello del piano stradale) e il piccolo campanile retrostante. L'interno, a navata unica, si connota per l'altare maggiore in marmi policromi, alle spalle del quale vi è una pala della fine del '600 che raffigura l'Assunzione della Vergine, che ricalca un'analoga tela di F. Solimena presente nella chiesa dell'Annunziata di Marcianise. La controfacciata è dominata, invece, da un pregevole organo su coro ligneo. Accanto alla chiesa vi è l'oratorio dell'Arciconfraternita del SS. Rosario (fondata nel 1563) decorato con stucchi rococò e affreschi di Domenico Ferrara che raffigurano "Storie di Gesù e della Vergine". The original chapel was founded in 1459 by the wealthy merchant Petrillo Ferrara, together with a small hospital, a shelter for the poor, the infirm and pilgrims. The current building is the result of extensions and renovations dating back to the eighteenth century and represents a fine example of the late Baroque style of the city. Externally, in addition to the façade, the characteristic lateral access staircase (dating back to 1857 to overcome the unevenness of the road level) and the small bell tower behind it are to be noted. The interior, with a single nave, is characterized by the high altar in polychrome marble, behind which there is an altarpiece from the end of the 17th century depicting the Assumption of the Virgin, which follows a similar canvas by F. Solimena present in the church of the Annunziata of Marcianise. The counter-façade is dominated, however, by a valuable organ on a wooden choir. Next to the church there is the oratory of the Archconfraternity of SS. Rosario (founded in 1563) decorated with Rococo stuccoes and frescoes by Domenico Ferrara depicting "Stories of Jesus and the Virgin".
