Edificio storico in uno dei più vecchi rioni di santa maria c.v. pieni di storia e tradizione da visitare per l'importanza storica e per la vicinanza all'anfiteatro romano risalente al 1°secolo dopo cristo voluto da adriano nell'antica città di capua meta vacanziera di senatori e patrizi romani in questo anfiteatro ci combatteva spartaco che viveva a pochi km da s.erasmo nelle carceri vecchie nella vicina san prisco dove a pochi metri si può ammirare una colonna del portone di entrata di capua appena entrati c'erano le terme ritrovate durante uno scavo e poi ricoperte
Ma torniano a s.erasmo nei pressi della chiesa potete ammirare il mitreo un luogo di culto e sacrificio al dio mitra ritornando verso l'anfiteatro trovate il mastodontico arco adriano entrata a nord di capua fuori da esso c'erano i campi di battaglia ridotti all'epoca in cimiteri coltivati
