Venne poi dedicata a sant'Antonio di Padova il 13 luglio 1652, in seguito a un accordo tra la confraternita di Sant'Antonio e quella di San Sebastiano, compatrono della città, a cui venne dedicata la nuova e più ampia basilica.
The church, believed to be the oldest in the city, was built after the plague epidemic of 1466, and dedicated to San Sebastiano martire. It was then dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua on 13 July 1652, following an agreement between the brotherhood of Sant'Antonio and that of San Sebastiano, co-patron of the city, to whom the new and larger basilica was dedicated.
