Dalla terrazza di fronte al sagrato si gode di una splendida vista sul lago ed in una bella giornata come oggi è stato davvero piacevole godersi il sole e la tranquillità del luogo. Visited today on the occasion of the Fall 2019 Market. Wonderful initiative with chestnut and street markets. From the terrace in front of the churchyard you can enjoy a splendid view of the lake and on a beautiful day like today it was really pleasant to enjoy the sun and the tranquility of the place.

S	Stefano Pinna on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ San Martino è una località dalle lontane origini dove, narra una leggenda, pare sorgesse in epoca antica un tempio pagano. In quest'area sono state rinvenute testimonianze romane e di epoche forse più antiche. Il complesso monumentale che fu costruito tra il XVI ed il XVIII secolo dove già esisteva una piccola cappella romanica, sorge discosto dal paese, alla sommità di un altipiano dominante la piana verbanese e comprende, oltre alla parrocchiale, la cappella-ossario ed il cimitero. L'edificazione della chiesa parrocchiale venne avviata alla fine del XVI secolo e fu terminata nel 1615. I successivi interventi di completamento ed abbellimento che proseguirono sino a tutto l'Ottocento ne hanno determinato l'attuale architettura. A ovest del pronao della chiesa sorge la Cappella-Ossario a pianta quadrata, di proporzioni maestose, probabilmente eretta nella prima metà del XVII secolo, quando ancora la tumulazione dei defunti dell'intera degagna avveniva all'interno della chiesa di San Martino. Il vicino cimitero che conclude il complesso monumentale fu realizzato nei primi anni dell'Ottocento ed è caratterizzato da un particolare perimetro ottagonale. Al centro sorge l'Oratorio della Beata Vergine Addolorata. Nelle vicinanza si trova il "san Prenua", resti di un masso erratico. San Martino is a town with distant origins where, according to a legend, a pagan temple appeared in ancient times. In this area Roman testimonies and perhaps more ancient eras have been found. The monumental complex that was built between the 16th and the 18th century where a small Romanesque chapel already existed, rises apart from the town, at the top of a plateau dominating the Verbanese plain and includes, in addition to the parish church, the chapel-ossuary and the cemetery. The construction of the parish church was started at the end of the sixteenth century and was completed in 1615. The subsequent interventions of completion and embellishment that continued until the end of the nineteenth century determined its current architecture. To the west of the pronaos of the church rises the square-plan Chapel of Ossuary, of majestic proportions, probably erected in the first half of the seventeenth century, when the burial of the deceased of the entire degagna still took place inside the church of San Martino. The nearby cemetery that concludes the monumental complex was built in the early nineteenth century and is characterized by a particular octagonal perimeter. In the center stands the Oratory of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows. Nearby is the "San Prenua", remains of an erratic boulder.

The suggestion is completed by the memory of an ancient necropolis found nearby and the view that can be enjoyed from the panoramic grassy churchyard.
