L'indomani, al timone di una barca che lo aspettava trovò il vecchio apparsogli in sonno che gli disse di essere San Brizio e che, come promesso, lo avrebbe portato a Calimera. Così avvenne e dopo averlo condotto sulle coste Salentine, il Santo portò l'uomo fino alla stele posta sulla via per Calimera. indicandogli il paese natale e dicendogli di raccontare a tutti i paesani quanto era successo e di comunicare il suo desiderio di prendere il paese sotto la sua protezione. Arriving in the village the man told the amazed fellow citizens about the miracle and from that moment on he gave his strength and work in honor and veneration of the saint, who from that moment became the patron saint of the village.

Ha un prospetto rettangolare, diviso in due ordini, con un ampio portale barocco, sul quale troneggia la statua in pietra leccese del santo patrono della cittadina. L'interno a croce latina e sui lati vi sono nove altari con tele di valore, come il primo a destra, della Madonna della Misericordia, l'altare dei santi Francesco e Leonardo e l'altare di San Nicola. Sul lato sinistro partendo dall'ingresso della chiesa sorgono gli altari della Resurrezione, di Sant'Oronzo e dell'Addolorata. I due del transetto sono dedicati a San Brizio. Alle spalle della chiesa sorge un massiccio campanile a quattro piani. La chiesa conserva, oltre a quella di San Brizio, la statua della Madonna di Roca, del Cuore di Gesù, di San Luigi Gonzaga, della Madonna del Rosario, dell'Addolorata e di San Francesco d'Assisi. L'altare maggiore, in pietra leccese riccamente decorato, è sormontato da un'imponente statua della Madonna Assunta. Molto bella e interessante da visitare. The interior with a Latin cross and on the sides there are nine altars with valuable paintings, such as the first on the right, of the Madonna della Misericordia, the altar of saints Francesco and Leonardo and the altar of St. Nicholas. On the left side starting from the church entrance rise the altars of the Resurrection, of Sant'Oronzo and of the Addolorata. The two of the transept are dedicated to San Brizio. Behind the church stands a massive four-story bell tower. Arrivi in una piazza sonnacchiosa, vedi la facciata di una chiesa come tante, poi entri dentro e ti si para davanti lo spettacolo del barocco leccese. Il sacerdote, gentilissimo, ci ha persino acceso le luci per farcela ammirare. A sinistra dell'altare fa bella mostra la statua di San Brizio, patrono di Calimera. Typical surprise of Salento.
