★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'edificio una volta era sede di un monastero alla quale faceva capo la villa adiacente. Attaccato all'edificio si trova l'ex carcere minorile ora in disuso e in stato di abbandono. Il monastero non è sempre visitabile. Di tanto in tanto vengono organizzate mostre all'interno del chiostro minore.
The building was once the site of a monastery which was overlooked by the adjacent villa. Attached to the building is the former juvenile prison now abandoned and in a state of disrepair. The monastery cannot always be visited. From time to time exhibitions are organized inside the minor cloister.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa dedicata a Santa Maria degli Angeli, detta anche dei Riformati, fu costruita con l'annesso convento nel XVII secolo, per i frati minori osservanti. La data di fondazione di questo Convento, comunemente la si fa risalire all’anno 1615 quando una bolla pontificia ne autorizzò la costruzione. La chiesa è certamente posteriore, almeno nella struttura odierna del frontale, come si rivela da una data sopra scolpita ossia A.D. 1786 identificabile quindi con l'anno di ultimazione. Dopo un lungo periodo di abbandono ed incuria negli anni ’90 del XX secolo, l’ex complesso conventuale e la Chiesa del Monastero, certamente il bene culturale più importante di Avigliano, sono stati interessati da un programma di restauri promosso dalla Soprintendenza per i Beni Architettonici e Ambientali della Basilicata. Nel 1996 la chiesa è stata restituita al culto ed ai numerosi visitatori che da sempre, da ogni parte, si sono recati per ammirare il suo valore architettonico ed il suo patrimonio artistico, tra i più interessanti della Regione.
The church dedicated to Santa Maria degli Angeli, also called dei Riformati, was built with the adjoining convent in the seventeenth century, for the observant minor friars. The foundation date of this convent is commonly traced back to the year 1615 when a papal bull authorized its construction. The church is certainly rear, at least in today's front structure, as revealed by a date carved above that is A.D. 1786 therefore identifiable with the year of completion. After a long period of neglect and neglect in the 90s of the twentieth century, the former convent complex and the Church of the Monastery, certainly the most important cultural asset of Avigliano, were affected by a restoration program promoted by the Superintendence for the Goods Architectural and Environmental of Basilicata. In 1996 the church was returned to the cult and to the numerous visitors who have always come from all over to admire its architectural value and its artistic heritage, among the most interesting in the region.
