Being from Sarezzano, I love it even if it is a bit bad. In common there is not much money anymore and therefore the work has stopped. Really a pity.

Subì un progressivo abbandono e degrado dopo la costruzione della nuova chiesa parrocchiale a cui seguirono, nel 2003 a causa di eventi sismici, danni alla stabilità. Interventi di restauro ne hanno consolidato la struttura senza però, al momento, aver restituito la chiesa alla comunità. Il panorama che si può ammirare dal prato che la circonda è affascinante in tutte le stagioni. In seguito ad indagini archeologiche sono stati ritrovati: • l’abside centrale affrescata; • la cripta medievale; • un ossario, forse il luogo di sepoltura dei Santi Ruffino e Venanzio • il Codex Purpureus Sarzanensis, conservato al Museo Diocesano di Tortona. The church, a significant example of Romanesque architecture, stands in a dominant position on the village at the top of the hill on which the castle was previously located. It suffered a progressive abandonment and degradation after the construction of the new parish church which was followed, in 2003 due to seismic events, damage to the stability. Restoration interventions have consolidated the structure without, however, at the moment, having returned the church to the community. The panorama that can be admired from the lawn that surrounds it is fascinating in all seasons. Following archaeological investigations were found: • the frescoed central apse; • the medieval crypt; • an ossuary, perhaps the burial site of Saints Ruffino and Venanzio • the Codex Purpureus Sarzanensis, kept at the Diocesan Museum of Tortona.
