★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ubicata nel cuore del centro storico della città la Chiesa fondata dalla congregazione dei Tavernieri intorno al 1590, fu abbandonata per le precarie condizioni strutturali .
Nel 2018 l’Accademia di Belle Arti ha realizzato un progetto decorativo con l'obiettivo di restituire la chiesa alla sua originaria identità. All'artista Marco Mirabile è stato affidato un workshop con un gruppo di studenti dell'Accademia per decorare il tavolato ligneo collocato a continuazione delle rovine dell'edificio originario e il portone in ferro, posto all'ingresso della chiesa in corrispondenza dell'antico portale.
L'intervento pittorico,ideato e realizzato dall'Artista Mirabile e progettato insieme ai docenti Prof.Zito e Prof. Ingarao, ha interessato solo le parti aggiunte in legno e in ferro senza compromettere l'edificio nelle sue parti storiche. Sulla facciata è stato ricostruito l’aspetto originario riportandovi a tinte piatte alcuni dei rilievi reperiti dalla documentazione fotografica esistente. Nel portale in ferro è stata dipinta Santa Sofia protettrice dei Taverneri, a cui la chiesa è dedicata.
 Located in the heart of the historic center of the city, the Church founded by the Congregation of Tavernieri around 1590 was abandoned due to the precarious structural conditions.
In 2018 the Academy of Fine Arts carried out a decorative project with the aim of returning the church to its original identity. The artist Marco Mirabile was entrusted with a workshop with a group of students from the Academy to decorate the wooden plank placed in continuation of the ruins of the original building and the iron door, placed at the entrance of the church at the ancient portal .
The pictorial intervention, conceived and created by the artist Mirabile and designed together with professors Prof. Zito and Prof. Ingarao, involved only the added parts in wood and iron without compromising the building in its historical parts. The original appearance has been reconstructed on the façade, showing some of the reliefs found in existing photographic documentation in flat colors. In the iron portal Santa Sofia, protector of the Taverneri, to whom the church is dedicated, was painted.
