È stata edificata sul luogo dove sorgeva la distrutta Annunciata dei Teatini, opera manifesto di Guarino Guarini e già esempio per molte chiese ricostruite nel Val di Noto dopo il 1693. Rispetto ad altri edifici ecclesiastici messinesi a pianta centrale e sala circolare (Carmine, Cristo Re) ha la peculiarità dello spostamento dell'ingresso sul vertice dell'isolato. Il progetto sfrutta la conformazione e la pendenza del lotto originario aprendosi con una bella scalinata semicircolare che giunge al pronao d'ingresso. Tutto l'insieme è chiaramente ispirato alle architetture di Juvarra, specificatamente Superga, nella struttura della cupola e nell'accostanento fra la chiesa, il campanile e la casa parrocchiale. Poco risolto, invece, il laterale con la recinzione. One of the best churches in Messina of the post-earthquake reconstruction of 1908. It was built on the site of the destroyed Annunciata dei Teatini, a manifesto work by Guarino Guarini and already an example for many churches rebuilt in the Val di Noto after 1693. Compared to other ecclesiastical buildings Messina with a central plan and circular room (Carmine, Cristo Re) has the peculiarity of moving the entrance to the top of the block. The project exploits the conformation and the slope of the original lot opening with a beautiful semicircular staircase that reaches the entrance pronaos. The whole is clearly inspired by the architecture of Juvarra, specifically Superga, in the structure of the dome and in the proximity between the church, the bell tower and the parish house. The side with the fence, on the other hand, is not solved.
