★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'edificio è molto antico, si ipotizza che la prima costruzione risalga al X-XI secolo. Era anche affiancato ad un monastero, oggi scomparso.
Verso la metà degli anni Settanta vennero ripulite dagli intonaci sette-ottocenteschi le colonne e le pareti della navata centrale, rivelando delle pitture del XII secolo: raffigurano figure di profeti ed episodi dell'Antico Testamento, mentre in controfacciata sono stati trovati brani di un "Giudizio Universale". Vennero fatti anche degli scavi nel pavimento che riportarono alla luce diversi mosaici databili sempre al XII secolo.
All'interno si trovano altre opere: sull'altare una pala raffigurante "L'incredulità di San Tommaso" della scuola del Tintoretto e in controfacciata un organo di Graziadio Antegnati (XVI secolo).
Da visitare assolutamente!
The building is very old, it is assumed that the first construction dates back to the X-XI century. It was also flanked by a monastery, which has now disappeared.
Towards the mid-seventies, the columns and walls of the central nave were cleaned from the eighteenth-nineteenth-century plasters, revealing paintings of the twelfth century: they depict figures of prophets and episodes from the Old Testament, while on the counter-façade parts of a " Universal Judgment ". Excavations were also made in the floor which brought to light several mosaics dating back to the 12th century.
Inside there are other works: on the altar an altarpiece depicting "The incredulity of St. Thomas" by the school of Tintoretto and on the counter façade an organ by Graziadio Antegnati (16th century).
