D	Dino Zocco on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di San Salvatore è il più antico monumento cittadino, un edificio di culto composto da un corpo circolare a cupola cilindrica, chiuso da arcate, risalente con tutta probabilità all'epoca paleocristiana. La struttura è costituita da una navata rettangolare a doppia campata, ampliata da una cappella laterale e da un presbiterio a pianta circolare chiuso da una piccola abside rettangolare. Ciò che caratterizza l'edificio è la sua semplicità strutturale, pareti lisce all'interno come all'esterno, realizzate con buona tecnica di lavorazione della pietra, a conci ben squadrati e allineati. La navata a due campate, divise da un arco traversale, è coperta da volte a crociera. Enigmatici sono il presbiterio rotondo e l'abside rettangolare: infatti non si conosce con esattezza la loro datazione né la particolare funzione, se mausoleo, oratorio o battistero. All'interno troviamo affreschi della prima metà del XII secolo d'influsso senese e nell'abside una Crocifissione di scuola umbra dei primi del Cinquecento. The church of San Salvatore is the most ancient city monument, a cult building composed of a circular body with a cylindrical dome, closed by arcades, probably dating back to the early Christian era. The structure consists of a rectangular nave with a double span, enlarged by a side chapel and a circular-shaped presbytery enclosed by a small rectangular apse. What characterizes the building is its structural simplicity, smooth walls inside as well as outside, made with good stone working technique, with well squared and aligned blocks. The nave with two bays, divided by a transverse arch, is covered by cross vaults. The round presbytery and the rectangular apse are enigmatic: in fact their dating is not known exactly, nor is their particular function, whether mausoleum, oratory or baptistery. Inside we find frescoes from the first half of the XII century of Sienese influence and in the apse a Crucifixion of the Umbrian school of the early sixteenth century.
