La volta è completamente affrescata dal pittore pavese Giovanni Antonio Cassano. Vi si trovano inoltre diverse importanti tele del Moncalvo. Da visitare anche l'adiacente Oratorio. Purtroppo lo si può visitare solo nell'ambito dell'iniziativa Casale città aperta (due fine settimana ogni mese). Meriterebbe di più, molto di più! The Church of San Michele on the outside seems insignificant but inside it is a real jewel. The vault is completely frescoed by the painter Giovanni Antonio Cassano from Pavia. There are also several important paintings by Moncalvo. The adjacent Oratory should also be visited. E' un gioiello che passa inosservato, visto che rimane chiusa per gran parte dell'anno, senza contare che si trova in una via di passaggio e che non è particolarmente appariscente se non si alzano gli occhi per osservare le statue che raffigurano i tre arcangeli, nel mezzo, sopra il semplice portone di legno massiccio, troneggia San Michele che trafigge il drago. Il terreno fu donato alla confraternita di San Michele, o dei Nobili, all'inizio del XVI secolo, un appezzamento del cimitero della Cattedrale. L'aula, è a pianta ottagonale,ed è sormontata da una cupola affrescata dal pittore pavese Giovanni Antonio Cassano, che iniziò i lavori nel 1597. Sono raffigurate le Storie dei tre arcangeli Michele, Raffaele e Gabriele. Ogni storia è divisa una dall'altra. I dipinti che ornano attualmente la chiesa Annunciazione, Annuncio ai Pastori, Natività, San Michele Arcangelo, Assunta con San Francesco e Monaco Certosino, Riposo in Egitto sono stati attribuiti dallo studioso Giovanni Romano e Guglielmo Caccia detto Il Moncalvo datandoli prima del 1614. La sesta tela Il sogno di San Giuseppe, datata 1627, è opera di Guglielmo Crosio. Se si ha occasione di passare per Casale Monferrato varrebbe davvero la pena visitarla.
