★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Siena è ricchissima di chiese e cappelle ma questa,aperta raramente, idest per la benedizione del cavallo e alcune domeniche programmate alle 10 con S.Messa solenne,racchiude in sé il.repertorio più raffinato del maniersmo senese.
A cominciare dalla volta affresca da Montorselli,lo stesso autore degli affreschi in S.Caterina della notte in piazza del Duomo,la Vergine tra San Giacomo e San Giuseppe di Lorenzo di Giovanni Cini e due sbalorditive opere di Manetti,gloria dell'Arte senese post medievale:
Il martirio di San Giacomo il Maggiore sull'altare maggiore e sulla destra un eccellente Crocifissione
che il nostro Manetti produsse a quattro mani nel suo viaggio a Roma nel 1615 e penso proprio che detto Crocifisso sia da attribuire a Caravaggio (la volta del cielo scuro per la burrasca imminente sul Golgota,solo un genio dell'Arte può produrre un'opra di così grande valore artistico.
Tutte le tavole del 6-700 sono frutto del tardo manierismo senese e vorrei dire...che San Giacomo è una delle chiese più belle della città!
