Alla Chiesa era annesso un monastero francescano ; dell'antico eremo oggi è rimasto un chiostro che circonda un giardino. La chiesa, attualmente, è in fase di ristrutturazione. A fianco dell'altare principale si trovano due grandi affreschi ; essi rappresentano scene bibliche del popolo ebraico durante la traversata del deserto. Al centro dell'abside, spicca l'immagine di San Francesco nell'atto di ricevere le stimmate. La parte alta della Chiesa è ricca di pregevoli affreschi. The church of San Francesco is the oldest in Saronno; whose construction dates back to 1297. A Franciscan monastery was annexed to the church; of the ancient hermitage today there is a cloister surrounding a garden. The church is currently being renovated. Next to the main altar there are two large frescoes; they represent biblical scenes of the Jewish people during the crossing of the desert. At the center of the apse stands the image of St. Francis in the act of receiving the stigmata. The upper part of the Church is rich in valuable frescoes.

Bellissimi affreschi, statue e un'atmosfera mistica che ti distoglie dalla routine frenetica. La statua a cui sono più devota è l'Angelo custode.Da più di 20 anni ho affidato il mio matrimonio e la mia famiglia. Ogni volta che ci passo vicino devo entrare anche solo per un minuto.A due passi dalla stazione delle ferrovie nord di Saronno . Recently renovated, for me it is the most beautiful church in Saronno. Beautiful frescoes, statues and a mystical atmosphere that takes you away from the hectic routine. The statue to which I am most devoted is the Guardian Angel. Fu uno dei primi insediamenti di religiosi nel territorio Saronnese. Oggigiorno la comunità non è più presente ma la chiesa è parte della comunità pastorale di Saronno. Info: Si celebrano messe la mattina presto, comode per i pendolari della stazione ferroviaria che si trova a 50 metri. Medieval church of a Franciscan community, with many recently restored frescoes of the time. It was one of the first settlements of religious in the Saronnese territory. Today the community is no longer present but the church is part of the pastoral community of Saronno. Info: Masses are celebrated early in the morning, convenient for commuters from the train station which is 50 meters away.

Impossibile descrivere in poche righe la bellezza della sua struttura che risale al XIII secolo e la ricchezza degli affreschi. È una chiesa che va conosciuta e che non colpisce necessariamente al primo colpo d’occhio. Eppure è da scoprire. A very beautiful church in the homonymous square just not far from the Saronno railway station. It is impossible to describe in a few lines the beauty of its structure which dates back to the 13th century and the richness of the frescoes. It is a church that must be known and that does not necessarily strike at first glance. Yet it is to be discovered.

Ha una armoniosa facciata, un bel campanile, la cupoletta di quella che era la Cappella dell’Immacolata. È a tre navate, sui due lati vi sono 12 cappelle edificate a cura di famiglie saronnesi. Importante: 1. L’altare maggiore ha nell’abside quattro ovali raffiguranti i voti dei Francescani: obbedienza, povertà, penitenza e castità, mentre nel centro vi è raffigurato S. Francesco che riceve le stigmate. 2. la Cappella del “Compianto”. Vi si trova un gruppo di statue lignee: la Madonna con il Cristo morto, S.Giovanni e la Maddalena. L’opera è del 1520 e negli anni 2000 è stata restaurata. The Church of San Francesco is admirable in the simplicity of its Lombard Romanesque style. It has a harmonious facade, a beautiful bell tower, the dome of what used to be the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. It has three naves, on both sides there are 12 chapels built by Saronnese families. Important: 1.
