R	Rosalia Michetti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Splendida chiesa del Trecento dedicata a S.Francesco d'Assisi, rimaneggiata all'interno nel periodo Barocco. Dall'atrio si accede, attraverso una porticina laterale, ad una ripida scala che conduce all'antica abside riccamente istoriata con pregevoli affreschi. Dopo l'atrio d'ingresso al piano terra si accede alla chiesa vera e propria, che presenta ai lati la splendida tomba in marmo bianco dei genitori del cardinal Partino e la tomba del pittore Adolfo De Carolis. Da un restauro operato anni addietro è possibile osservare una piccola porzione degli affreschi successivamente ricoperti di stucco nel Seicento mentre il resto della chiesa si presenta in pieno stile Barocco, con elementi finemente lavorati con decori. Originariamente l'ingresso della chiesa medievale era dietro l'altare, per cui visitando la sagrestia è possibile ammirare l'antico portale in pietra bianca che lo adornava. Da apprezzare anche la pavimentazione in cotto bicolore, pressoché intatta nonostante il tempo. Splendid 14th century church dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, remodeled inside in the Baroque period. From the atrium, through a small side door, you enter a steep staircase that leads to the ancient, richly decorated apse with valuable frescoes. After the entrance hall on the ground floor you enter the actual church, which has on the sides the splendid white marble tomb of the parents of Cardinal Partino and the tomb of the painter Adolfo De Carolis. From a restoration carried out years ago it is possible to observe a small portion of the frescoes subsequently covered with stucco in the seventeenth century while the rest of the church is in full Baroque style, with finely worked elements with decorations. Originally the entrance to the medieval church was behind the altar, so visiting the sacristy it is possible to admire the ancient white stone portal that adorned it. Also to be appreciated is the two-tone terracotta flooring, almost intact despite the weather.
