Fu costruita a partire dall'anno 1622 e originariamente era dedicata a San Francesco Saverio. All'interno vi sono diverse opere d'arte, molto belli i marmi dell'altare e delle balaustre. Molto suggestivo l'organo, e davvero molto bello il presepe esposto in occasione delle feste natalizie. Da visitare senz'altro, in quanto è un vanto per la città di Napoli. Errata Corrige: il presepe è visitabile per tutto l'anno, così come indicato dai responsabili. La facciata è stata eretta su progetto di Cosimo Fanzago, lo stesso autore della Certosa di San Martino e, come quasi tutte le chiese cittadine, anche questa ha subito pesanti rimaneggiamenti successivi. Si salva la sontuosa decorazione originale ad affresco di De Matteis, un vero capolavoro del barocco napoletano. Considerata la chiesa degli artisti, contiene un presepe non molto grande ma molto particolare, perché riproduce la piazza antistante con i palazzi (di cui - cosa particolarissima - si vedono gli interni). Inoltre , nei volti dei personaggi, sono ravvisabili ritratti di artisti qui sepolti.
