★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Le prime notizie storiche della chiesa risalgono al 1259, epoca in cui l'intero complesso pievano dipendeva già dalla parrocchia di Santa Maria Maggiore di Lomello. Tuttavia gli storici retrodatano di parecchio la costruzione dell'edificio, posta all'incirca a cavallo fra i Secoli IX e X.
Purtroppo questa importantissima testimonianza architettonica del primo romanico lombardo è stata in parte ricostruita in forme neoclassiche fra Sette e Ottocento, quando venne prolungata la navata unica e realizzata la facciata odierna. Eppure tracce dell'edificio millenario sono ancora ben visibili nel fianco sud e nel campanile, tuttora in mattoni a vista disposti a spina di pesce.
 The first historical information of the church dates back to 1259, a time when the entire parish complex already depended on the parish of Santa Maria Maggiore di Lomello. However, historians backdated quite a lot the construction of the building, placed roughly between the IX and X centuries.
Unfortunately, this very important architectural testimony of the early Lombard Romanesque style was partially rebuilt in neoclassical forms between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when the single nave was extended and today's façade was built. Yet traces of the millennial building are still clearly visible in the south side and in the bell tower, still in exposed brick arranged in a herringbone pattern.
