★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spatiavento et prope strata furono donati allo spedale di S. Pietro di Pistoia all’inizio del 1100. Nel secolo successivo è già documentato un hospitalis de Spathavento registrato nei verbali delle visite pastorali a partire da quella del 10 Giugno 1372 del vescovo Vivenzi, con la specificazione di hospitale et ecclesia S. Marie Magdalene et S. Lazzari de Spazzavento. Ancora nel 1600 lo spedale ebbe la funzione di lazzaretto. Sul finire dello stesso secolo, dalla chiesa parrocchiale di S. Pietro in Vincio dipendevano sia l’antico spedale, sia i due oratori di S. Maria Maddalena e di S. Lazzaro. Nel 1745 il primo dei due oratori fu soppresso ed il suo titolo fu riunito a quello di S. Lazzaro, che fu poi elevato a chiesa parrocchiale dal vescovo Toli il 30 Novembre 1819, con territorio scorporato da S. Pietro in Vincio, Serravalle e Castellina. La chiesa, ingrandita una prima volta nel 1745, fu finita di sistemare nel 1819 a cura della famiglia Forteguerri che aveva il patronato e consacrata dal vescovo Toli il 29 Settembre 1820, fu distrutta dalle truppe tedesche in ritirata il 12 Agosto 1944 . La chiesa attuale ricostruita su progetto dell’arch. Raffaello Franci, fu riaperta al culto il 2 Settembre 1951 e consacrata il 25 Maggio 1963. Ammettendone anche nel 1955 il territorio della soppressa parrocchia di Gabbiano.
