The church of Saints Peter and Paul is located in the historic center of Chioggia. The structure dates back to 1431, with subsequent restorations, one even recently between 2011 and 2013. The facade is in the Gothic style. The interior has a single nave with a longitudinal plan in the Gothic style. Also known as the church of San Pieretto. The little church is the result of a bequest by ser Pietro Mazzagallo, as evidenced by an inscription on white marble in Lombards, present on the architrave of the entrance door, outside, just below a rear window, in which the bas-relief appears with Saints Peter and Paul, with two coats of arms with rampant lions on either side, while in the center another coat of arms with a rooster, a flame and waves (obviously one of the coats of arms of the Mazzagallo family). This is the inscription, translated into Italian for the readers' convenience: "The dedication of this temple to the holy apostles of Christ, Peter and Paul, was made with the possessions of the chioggiaotto ser Pietro Mazzagallo in February 1431, at the time of the most illustrious mayor Signor Ambrogio Badoer was Albano, being commissioners ser Giovanni Mazzagallo and ser Giovanni Cortese, and prosecutors of the cathedral ser Pietro De Renolfo and ser Giovanni Fasolo ”. The shape of the church recalls that of the nearby San Martino, smaller but more regular and perfect. But the events of the church do not end there, because for several years after the war the building was used first as a refectory for the needy and then as a canteen for all (the so-called Acli canteen), ending up becoming more worthily an exhibition hall and art gallery.
