Sorse all’indomani del terremoto del 23 febbraio 1887, che provocò il danneggiamento e la successiva distruzione della cappella di S. Antonio Abate, un centinaio di passi a ponente nella piazzetta omonima. I lavori ebbero inizio nel 1889 su disegno dell’ingegnere Arnaldo Lodi e si conclusero nel 1907. Purtroppo quasi sempre chiusa. Un cartello informa che viene officiata una messa al sabato pomeriggio alle 17.00 e una alla domenica mattina alle 11.00. All'interno l'opera d’arte di maggior interesse è il bassorilievo in marmo di S. Anna Metterza del secolo XV nella cappella della controfacciata a sinistra dell’ingresso. Beautiful church on the promenade of Borgo Marina is a characteristic element of the urban fabric of the Marina. It was built in the aftermath of the earthquake of 23 February 1887, which caused the damage and the subsequent destruction of the chapel of S. Antonio Abate, a hundred steps to the west in the homonymous square. The works began in 1889 on the design of the engineer Arnaldo Lodi and ended in 1907. Unfortunately almost always closed. A sign informs that a mass is officiated on Saturday afternoons at 17.00 and one on Sunday mornings at 11.00. Inside, the work of art of greatest interest is the 15th-century marble bas-relief of S. Anna Metterza in the chapel of the counter-façade on the left of the entrance.

Die Front ist dreiteilig gehalten, was sich am Dach mit zwei Aufbauten und einem erhöhten Turm zeigt. Über dem Eingang steht in goldener Schrift Ave Maria Stella, der Name der Kirche. Die Bogenfenster geben im hellen Stein einen feinen Ausdruck. Very pretty little church with an interesting architectural design. The arched windows give a fine expression in the light stone.

A	Alessio Fauni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa stupenda, con una facciata principale interamente edificata in una stupenda pietra bianca che con il sole splendente di una località di mare, risalta benissimo tutti i particolari architettonici di cui è piena. Bellissima anche internamente dove l'ordine e la pulizia la fanno da padroni. Sicuramente un edificio da vedere. Stunning church, with a main façade entirely built in a stupendous white stone that with the shining sun of a seaside resort, stands out very well all the architectural details of which it is full. Beautiful also internally where order and cleanliness are the masters. Definitely a building to be seen.
