M	MARIO MORETTI ZOOM MASTER on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa dei Santi Fermo e Rustico, sorta nel XIII secolo in luogo di un edificio preesistente, prima in stile romanico a capanna, poi in stile gotico lombardo, ha subito all’interno numerosi rifacimenti fino ad aggiunte in stile barocco nel 1700. La navata centrale, un tantino buia, termina con l’Altare Maggiore, ben inserito nell’ampia Abside, con cupola affrescata e ricca di fregi. Ai suoi lati, due navate laterali terminano con Altari Minori e presentano sulle pareti 4 cappelle per lato. Tra queste spicca, anche per l’accurata illuminazione, la cappella dei Santi Pietro e Andrea, che contiene una Pala del Pittore caravaggino Cristoforo Ferrari de’ Giuchis datata 1504. Nel transetto di destra è stata incorporata la Cappella Bramantesca del Santissimo Sacramento, ricca di opere pittoriche dei secoli XV e XVI, che merita una descrizione specifica. Più recentemente nel 1841, al termine del transetto, è stata aggiunta la Cappella dell’Apparizione con la Pala della Apparizione della Madonna a Giannetta. Accanto alla Chiesa si erge la possente ed alta (71 m) Torre Campanaria, la cui costruzione iniziale viene attribuita al Governatore veneziano Giovanni Dandolo nel 1500. La costruzione della Torre ha subito varie interruzioni ed aggiunte fino ad assumere l’aspetto attuale solo nel 1900. B	Bruno Rindone on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Caravaggio si conosce sicuramente il Santuario, ma pochi, tranne gli abitanti del luogo, conoscono altri monumenti che a mio parere meritano una visita. In particolare mi riferisco alla Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Fermo e a Quella di San Bernardino. La Chiesa di San Fermo presenta una facciata molto bella e imponente oltre che ben tenuta, la piazza dove sorge è molto interessante anche per via di un palazzo di fronte alla chiesa con begli affreschi liberti. L'interno della chiesa in stile barocco è abbastanza piacevole e ben tenuto, Molto interessante è la cappella " Bramantesca" molto ricca e purtroppo non accessibile se non attraverso la grata di protezione. In conclusione merita una visita magari in coincidenza con la visita al Santuario. Raramente è accessibile alle persone ma oggi è stata la giornata del FAI e grazie alla parrocchia e alle bravissime guide del FAI si è potuto accedere a questo luogo sacro, e seguire le spiegazioni. La cupola è probabilmente stata progettata da un artista del seguito di Donato Bramante ma non è noto il nome. La piazza è pedonale ma si può transitare a lato per parcheggiare l'auto (a pagamento nei giorni non festivi). Spicca la bellissima facciata in mattoni a vista, con elegante portale strombato e un rosone centrale. Pinnacoli superiori conferiscono slancio all'edificio. Accanto vi è il campanile dall'altezza vertiginosa (70 m). Fu eretto a partire dal XVII secolo ma fu completato soltanto all'inizio del XX secolo, con l'aggiunta della lanterna. Posteriormente si apprezza un residuo di affresco con figura maschile dotata di gozzo (affezione diffusa nella bergamasca in passato). Bellissima la Cappella del SS. Sacramento (XV-XVI secolo).
