Caratterizzato nel tempo da svariate destinazioni d'uso, sapienti interventi di recupero architettonico lo hanno portato all'attuale struttura di sede museale permanente che si propone di documentare l'evoluzione dell'arte contemporanea. Ospita permanentemente opere di artisti di fama nazionale ed internazionale che hanno lavorato a Carrara dalla seconda metà del XX secolo. Fino al 31 ottobre 18 ospita anche "Alpi Apuane" mostra fotografica di Primoz Bizjak. Built in the 17th century as a convent annexed to the Church of San Francesco. Characterized over time by various destinations of use, skilful architectural recovery interventions have led it to the current structure of the permanent museum that aims to document the evolution of contemporary art. It permanently houses works by nationally and internationally renowned artists who have worked in Carrara since the second half of the 20th century. Until 31 October 18 it also hosts "Alpi Apuane" photographic exhibition by Primoz Bizjak.
A	Antonio Desideri on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un luogo un po’ “strano”: una galleria d’arte/museo dedicato perlopiù al marmo ma che ospita anche temporanee di altre arti (fotografia, ecc) ma che soffre di un’atmosfera un po’ precaria: può capitare di entrare e trovare tutto spento perché al personale sono state date indicazioni per il risparmio dell’energia elettrica. Insomma una metafora del valore che viene attribuito ad arte e cultura in Italia. Lo spazio, di suo, è piacevole, con un chiostro centrale che da luce e prospettiva.
